im reading that forum and its annoying as fuck how people act about comic characters being queer

they literally complain that their queerness is too visible. that being queer should only be alluded to, but not said.

the OP & comments are all in agreement, saying that in the Young Avengers, Hulking & Wiccan’s relationship is “in your face” because they are visibly in love and not just hinted at.

it’s really, really infuriating? like do you ever see complaints about  straight Marvel couples being “in your face”? Phoenix & Cyclops?Spiderman & Mary Jane? Mr. Fantastic & Invisible Woman? literally never.

people keep trying to justify their shitty opinions by “defending” the characters “their character revolves around their sexuality!”..”there is nothing else to their character other than their sexuality!”..”they are using same-sex couples as a gimmick to sell comics!”

this comic isn’t even mainstream, like I doubt even people with average comic interest has even heard of these characters, yet people complain that their sexuality is “too much” and say it’s a gimmick? how would gay characters upsale comics when the majority of people who read comics don’t want queer characters period?

i read the first few volumes of Young Avengers and from what I can remember, Wiccan was the main character, or at least was the center of interest in what I read, and he was developed & there was plenty more to him than his sexuality. He was motivated by his love interest, but was also motivated by so much more? he was searching for his mother and had his own agenda.

i’m so tired of comic nerds shitting on everything that doesn’t cater to them
