Why Do We Need Superheroes? - BTR Pulse [ep76] (by btrpulse)
With The Avengers setting record numbers in theaters worldwide — poising it to be one of the blockbuster hits of the summer — and with more Marvel Comics films on the way, we hit the popular New York City comic book store Forbidden Planet to ask folks what they find most appealing about the “Superhero” story and what superpowers they wish they had. /// Featured song: “Hometown Hero” by BIG K.R.I.T.
ICONS: Avengers -Calvin Lin (theLinC)
Watched the midnight showing of The Avengers! The movie did not disappoint and the ending made me excited for whats to come in the future. I’m glad they used the Chitauri instead of the Kree and Skrulls, for they deserve a deeper back story then just the brief explanation of the Chitauri.
So in celebration of the release of the Avengers movie, I recreated Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor to resemble their movie counterparts and added the rest of the Avengers roster: Hulk, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. I decided to use the comic version of Hawkeye and Black Widow cause I felt like their movie costumes weren’t iconic enough to be depicted in a minimalist style. Even Black Widow was hard, I feel like it’s too bare.
As always, comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated!

The superheroes of your youth may not longer be complete fiction.
Across the globe, masked avengers guard the streets to prevent and fight crime. Within a community that seems like a fantasy world, some people have pushed their childhood dreams further.
Approximately 600 superheroes protect their communities in different ways, often disguised by costumes. Alone or with teammates, these men and women patrol the streets of their cities to help those in need, often risking their own lives.
